Caution:  Animation in-jokes coming!  Stay with me on this, folks.   The voice actor for Simon in Gurren Lagann, Tetsuya Kakihara, recorded his version of Cutey Honey’s opening theme song for a gag (I linked a better-quality version).  The gag only got richer in Kannagi:  Crazy Shrine Maidens when one of the girls chooses the Cutey Honey theme song for a male otaku named Meguru Akiba to sing at the karaoke parlor.  The voice actor for Meguru Akiba is none other than Tetsuya Kakihara.   Props fatter than Yokozuna’s ass to quamp for explaining this in his dA piece for stripper Cutey Honey doing a pole dance.

Second only to Balalaika’s “Yes, it’s in her ass” line, it’s the classic line from Dutch in the second episode of Black Lagoon.  The Lagoon Trading Company barely survives an attack by mercenaries out to kill Rock and the Company for what they know about Rock’s company’s secrets. I’ve used Dutch’s line more than a few times as a sigh of relief.
